FIRE ISLAND'S ONLY PROFESSIONAL THEATRE COMPANY --

GREAT THEATRE FOR A GREAT COMMUNITY!

In spite of virtual sell-out houses in 2008, we barely make our budget and thought that it would be perilous to mount another theatre season in Cherry Grove until we could be sure that we could raise enough money to do so. Little did we know that the bottom would fall out of our economy in December, reinforcing our belief that our decision was a responsible one. There is also doubt as to whether The Tides Playhouse would be available to us in the future.

Since the year 2000, The Island Repertory Theatre Company has fulfilled its not-for-profit status by presenting time-honored and new plays that chronicle the gay, lesbian,  bisexual and transgender (GLBT) experience for communities that it serves.  In the summer of 2008, we received a Citation from New York State Assemblywoman Ginny Fields for artistic excellence in our field.

With your support, Island Rep became a first-class professional theatre company that was beyond my wildest dreams and we want to thank all of you for being an intricate part of the whole, magnificent, sometimes frustrating experience.

The 501(c)3 not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporation still exists. With your help, we hope to  be able to continue our mission very soon. For more information e-mail IslandRepCG@aol.com.
